Villamor Air Base is in
Pasay City. Before, Villamor Air Base is called Nichols Air Base. The place is the haven of military personnel, specifically Air
Force. In Villamor Air Base you can see a museum and vintage air planes.
Furthermore, the museum is perfect for field trips and educational tours.
The air base has a
hospital, gasoline station, and complete facilities. It is good to know that
the place is clean and in order. If you want to visit the place, you should be
in proper attire, no slippers and other improper attire.
Villamor Air Base is
near at Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA, Remington hotel, Marriott and Resorts World Manila.
Outside the air base, is
a popular place called “Barrio”. Barrio is a large settlement or residential area of mostly military
families. The place is quiet and clean compare to other areas in Pasay like
Malibay and Maricaban. You will happy to see that some houses are big and
glamorous. Unfortunately, the cost of units and apartments for rent in Villamor
are quite high.
There is another
residential place that is quiet and clean near in Villamor, and that is Newport
City. The Newport City is adjacent to Nichols or “Barrio”. The place is full of cozy condominiums. I
heard that the cost of condo units there are so expensive. Newport City is really
beautiful and a perfect place for city lovers.
If you are in Manila and want to go in Villamor, you can
ride in LRT and drop at LRT Edsa Station. From Edsa, you can ride a jeepney
that will go to Nichols beside McDonalds. They will stop at a Barangay Hall and
that is already Villamor. If you want to go to the air base, from barangay,
ride a jeep there that will go to gate 4. Welcome to Villamor Air Base!
omg! nice to know this! i will be visiting philippines soon with my husband and his dad so they like military stuffs this would be great! xx
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that you'd share a few photos for us to know how the museum looks like unless taking pictures is prohibited. ^_^
ReplyDeleteWe used to live here because my dad was in the Air Force but I couldn't remember anything because I was just a little kid. Thanks for the info about the museum. This will be a perfect place to revisit for my travel/history blog.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned proper attire, but what exactly is their definition of "proper"? Is this place some kind for educational trips or casual visits?
ReplyDeleteVintage, I would love to visit the place so soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI always see Villamor outside when I am going to the airport. Maybe one day I will pay this place a visit.
ReplyDeleteI have been there on one of our field trips and it's a really cool place.. love those airplanes there..

Sawa na ako sa Villamor Airbase, yung Uncle ko kasi naging base commander dyan so, regular akong namamasyal sa base, hilig ko kasing tignan yung mga vintage airplanes. LOL
ReplyDeleteI would have loved seeing photos so i can really relate. though I'm sure I've been to this area before, I'm not really familiar if that's Villamor airbase already. Plus, readers outside the country would really appreciate additional info that can be brought about by photos :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would ever visit a military base like Villamor... I have this phobia towards people with guns... and it's very likely that there will be lots of people with guns in a military base... LOL
ReplyDeleteMy little brother loves planes. He wants to become a pilot someday :) I might bring him there someday.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that it's a good choice for field trips. Hope you could add few photos so we can imagine how it looks like.
ReplyDeleteMy bestfriend lives in this area, since her father served the army (if I recall) years ago. He's retired now. Although I've never been around the base, I'll definitely ask my bff to tour me around sometime.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about pasay so this is really good info for me in case I'm going there..
ReplyDeleteI was under the impression that people aren't allowed inside the airbase :P Looks like I'm wrong!
ReplyDeleteI cant remember the last time i was able to visit this place. Hmmm... Will consider this during the summer vacation of the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteI will always have fond memories of Villamor, because I used to work at Lufthansa Technik. Never a dull moment there :)
ReplyDeleteNever been to Villamor Air Base just heard about it in the news. Hope to visit this place soon.
